The Great Race of 57

The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is from a golden age in mechanical design with tail wings, lots of chrome and ornaments, and it has always been a favorite and very beautiful car to me.

It is a car design that to me signals an optimistic dream of progress, power, speed, freedom, possibilities, a bright future and with the tail wings and rocket points in the front, it looks like it is ready to get into orbit.

In 1957 the first man-made satellite Sputnik was launched into space and that was a giant step in human progress. It started the Space Race which resulted in many big achievements and scientific developments.
