Lunar Rover

For this years Hum3D Car Challenge I started with the idea that I wanted to do an electric vehicle and got inspired to do the Lunar Rover after watching a documentary on the Apollo Lunar Missions. The Lunar Rover is credited as being the first car in space and though it only had a cruising speed of 8 MPH it played a vital role in NASA's lunar exploration. This little 460 pound all wheel drive electric car was a feat of engineering which could carry over 1000 lbs payload and had specially designed wire mesh wheels that could traverse the moon's rocky terrain.

All assets with the exception of the Space suite were created in Blender with some support from Photoshop for texturing and Hardops Add-on for modelling. The space suit originated as a 3D scan from the Smithsonian Museum https://3d.si.edu/collections/neilarmstrong that I modified and rigged for the needs of this project.
