Demon Run

I've always wanted to do that car, I think that challenge was the right time for me to do it.. I recently moved to Montreal in order to find a job in the industry, I spend my days sending applications and waiting for answers, not a funny situation.. But what makes me smile is that this country is full of these vehicles, I love when they pass over the street and make loud starts.. definitely that car is special for me, and I wanted to work on an image that translate this special feeling.

I tried to make something more realistic and photographic and I wanted to show the beast releasing it's full power on a straight line, creating a small dust cloud in the Nevada desert, stitching the driver to his seat. Landscape is blurred by the speed, the only important thing is the car, the power and the incredible feeling that gives.

I used a "production" ready workflow, in this scene everything is animated, there is no "tricks" in post, so if I have more power it's possible to render an animation.

Colors are very important for me, grading is definitely my favorite part of a work, colors are feelings for me and when you see an image for the first time, seeing something warm of cold for example gives you a different feeling. For this image, I wanted to give warm tones, because that car inspire heat, flames, demon. The greenish blue, some reds in the highlights gives a slightly "old school look" that I love, I love dodge since my younger age and this oldish feeling represent something that is inside my head from years now. The final color calibration, with darker saturated color and brighter pales one gives a bit of a feeling of danger and I liked it.
