3D model of a diesel-electric attack submarine designed by the German company Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW). It has a displacement of 1,593 tonnes, a length of 62 meters, and a crew of around 30. The Type 209 is known for its low noise signature, which makes it difficult to detect underwater. It can operate at depths of up to 500 meters and has a range of 11,000 nautical miles. The submarine is armed with torpedoes and can also launch anti-ship missiles. It has been widely exported to navies around the world, with more than 60 submarines built to date. The Type 209 has seen action in several conflicts and has been praised for its reliability and performance.
